Research Profile

Manage your research profile and expertise keywords used for paper-reviewer matching

Your research profile helps track chairs match you with papers that fit your expertise. It combines three types of keywords to build a complete picture of your research areas.

How It Works

When you're invited to review for a conference, PaperFox automatically runs AI Profile Discovery — it searches the web for your publications (Google Scholar, ORCID, Semantic Scholar, etc.) and extracts expertise keywords. You'll receive an email asking you to verify the results.

All your keywords are combined and used by the Auto Assign Reviewers feature to match you with relevant papers.

Access Your Research Profile

  1. Click your profile icon in the top right corner
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Research Profile in the sidebar

Add URLs to your academic profiles so track chairs can verify your expertise:

  • Google Scholar — Your citation profile
  • ORCID — Your researcher identifier
  • Semantic Scholar — Your publication profile
  • ResearchGate — Your research network profile
  • Personal Website — Your academic homepage

These links are also used by AI Profile Discovery to find your publications more accurately.

Three Types of Keywords

Your profile uses three types of keywords, each with a different source and color:

System Keywords and Your Expertise Tags sections

System Keywords (purple)

Automatically extracted from papers you've submitted in PaperFox. These are read-only and update whenever your submissions change. You cannot edit them.

Your Expertise Tags (green)

Keywords you add manually. You have full control — add, edit, or remove these anytime.

  1. Type a keyword (e.g., "machine learning", "NLP")
  2. Press Enter or click "Add Tag"
  3. Click the x on any tag to remove it

AI-Discovered Tags (blue)

Automatically discovered from your recent publications via web search. These are replaced each time you run AI Profile Discovery.

You can remove individual AI tags by clicking the x on each one. Removed tags won't reappear until the next discovery run.

Running AI Profile Discovery

To discover or refresh your AI tags:

  1. Click "AI Profile Discovery (10 credits)" at the bottom of the page
  2. Wait 30-90 seconds while the AI searches for your publications
  3. Review the results and click "Save Changes"

Credits required

AI Profile Discovery costs 10 credits per run. When you're invited to review, the first discovery is run automatically at no cost to you.

If discovery doesn't find results (e.g., no public Google Scholar or ORCID profile), add your keywords manually using Your Expertise Tags.

Save Your Profile

After making changes, click "Save Changes" (or "Verify & Save" if your profile hasn't been verified yet).

Your profile status shows:

  • Profile Verified — Your profile is complete and active
  • Not Verified — Review and save your profile to complete setup
