Guide for track chairs to assign papers directly to Associate Editors

Associate Editor Assignment

When your track uses Associate Editors without a Senior Editor level, you assign papers directly to AEs who then manage reviewer assignments.

Configure Committee Structure

  1. Go to your conference dashboard
  2. Navigate to your track
  3. Click Committee Settings

  1. Under Committee Structure, select Standard (with Associate Editors)

  1. Optionally select a Terminology Preset or customize role names (e.g., "Meta-Reviewer" instead of "Associate Editor")

Invite Associate Editors

After enabling the AE level:

  1. Go back to Track Management
  2. Click the Associate Editors button (or your custom name)

Accessing AE Assignments

  1. Go to your track management page
  2. Click Associate Editor Assignments
Assign Papers to AE

The AE Assignments page displays:

  • All submissions in your track
  • Available Associate Editors
  • Current assignment status

Assigning Papers

  1. Select submissions from the list
  2. Choose an Associate Editor to assign
  3. Confirm the assignment

Each paper can be assigned to one Associate Editor. The AE will then assign reviewers through their console.

Assignment Settings

Configure assignment limits:

  • Papers per AE — Maximum papers each Associate Editor can handle
  • AEs per paper — Typically set to 1

After Assignment

Once assigned:

  • Associate Editors see papers in their AE Console
  • AEs assign reviewers to their papers
  • AEs monitor review progress
